If there were more instructions or hints this game would have been a home run. While the interactions, visuals, and storyline are amazing the gameplay and mechanics were lacking. Overall, Metropolis has the bones to be a great game, however, the slow pace, lack of instruction, and lengthy dialogue made it frustrating to play. I felt as though I was lost half the time and the other half I was just clicking and hoping it would do something. The puzzles themselves were difficult but possible, the hardest part of the game was just knowing what to do next. I found myself annoyed and losing my temper a bit whenever I had to go through the same long conversations time after time. There were many instances where a point in the game should’ve gone by much faster but the lack of direction forced me to go back and re-click everything until something worked. With a point-and-click game, it is important for me to know what I’m supposed to do and where I should go. First, there is little to no instruction on where to go and what to do. This proved to be a bit difficult for me throughout for a couple of reasons. This game is a simple point-and-click game. When looking at the actual gameplay, the game was very slow and frustrating at times. The game allows for the player to have a lot of freedom in what to do next, which proved to be difficult for me at times but fun nonetheless. I love that there is so much to do and there are so many ways to be a part of the game. The storyline of this game is so fun and playful. The conversations that I had with the various characters made me feel as though I was in the game myself. The interactions brought this game to life. The game and interactions are playful and each character has a unique personality that was entertaining to play with. It isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, but it isn’t trying to make a better one either. The bright colors made the game feel warm and cozy instead of robotic and scientific which I really enjoyed. Mutropolis is a point-and-click adventure game in the same vein of those aforementioned beloved classics. The futuristic settings drawn in what felt like an early 2000s pc game aesthetic made me feel like a kid again. The hand drawn scenes and intricate world settings were the highlights of my gaming experience with Mutropolis. The visuals and storyline of Mutropolis are nothing shy of impressive. Completing the puzzles and problem solving is the only way to save the day and discover the lost world. Playing as Henry Dijon, an archaeologist in the year 5000, you must put your problem-solving skills to the test to save Totel and discover the ancient world of Mutropolis. Mutropolis is an adventure/puzzle game that puts your brain to work while also making you feel as though you are in the game.
